Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is Harly Wax® suitable for my brand new car?
A. Yes! Harly Wax® is suitable for all paint types, including the latest water-based metallic and polyurethane finishes found on all new cars. It can also be used on fiberglass, gel coat and carbon fiber finishes. With automotive manufacturers using "environmentally friendly" water based paint, it is crucial that you protect the clear coat finish on your car in order to preserve the paint.
Q. Is Harly Wax® suitable for my classic car?
A. Yes! Harly Wax® is ideal for multi-stage finishes, clear coat finishes, even nitrocellulose (lacquer) finishes from prior to World War II.
Q. Can Harly Wax® be used on my motorcycle?
A. Absolutely! Harly Wax® is suitable for any painted surface. It can be used on motorcycles, airplanes, boats, trailers, RV's, quads -- any surface that needs a high gloss shine. It even works on glass, plastic and chrome.
Q. How do I apply Harly Wax®?
A. If you are concerned that paste wax is more difficult to apply or remove than liquid wax, don't worry. Harly Wax® has the consistency of butter. It melts on contact and rubs on easily. We recommend that you apply Harly Wax® with the soft foam pad covered with terry cloth that is included in the Harly Wax® Kit . You can apply the wax to one panel at a time and wait at least 15 minutes for the wax to haze or you can wax the entire car at one time. Do not be afraid to let the wax harden and dry. It will actually be easier to remove the excess once it has hardened. Then use a soft, clean cloth to gently buff off the wax, such as the 100% microfiber cloth that is included in the Harly Wax® Kit. It takes very little effort to produce an unbelievable shine.
Q. Does Harly Wax® turn into white powder as I buff it off?
A. No! After applying Harly Wax®, you only remove the excess wax. Unlike other polishes, Harly Wax® contains no polymers, no powders and no cleaners that would produce a white powder or dust when removed. Those ingredients will gradually remove your car's finish every time you use them. Harly Wax® just leaves a deep, protective shine that builds upon itself the more you use it.
Q. Does Harly Wax® leave white stains on black bumpers, rubber and matte painted surfaces?
A. No! It will not mark or stain black surfaces.
Q. What if my vehicle is oxidized?
A. In cases where the vehicle’s finish is oxidized, we recommend using a suitable prewax cleaner before applying Harly Wax®, such as Harly Wax® Professional Prewax Cleaner Deoxidizer.
Q. Is Harly Wax® available in liquid form?
A. No! It is only possible to suspend tiny amounts of carnauba wax in a liquid. That is why the world’s most expensive carnauba wax manufacturers, such as Zymol® and Swissvax®, do not make liquid wax. If you see a liquid wax that claims to contain carnauba wax, it may be true, but the amount would be incredibly small. Only cheap wax comes in liquid form. Accept no substitutes! If you care about your car, Harly Wax® it!
